Our Mission

Craft:Impact is a monthly podcast featuring thought leaders from the worlds of social impact, development economics and design innovation.

They all come to the table with the same goal - to engage in thoughtful dialogue around how the rapidly growing craft sector can maximize its positive human impact.

Episode 1. Kevin Starr, CEO Mulago Foundation

In our first episode, we talk with Kevin Starr, a leading thinker on driving and measuring social impact. As the CEO of the Mulago Foundation, Kevin has been a leading voice for pushing NGOs and social enterprises to do better when it comes to achieving measurable outcomes (rather than just outputs,) and holding ourselves to core impact metrics that make genuine and measurable changes in the lives of our constituents.

Driving Impact

Each episode takes a critical look at different ways the craft sector can optimize its impact, better measure outcomes and employ proven strategies from other sectors. Our goal is to inspire a global sector to capitalize on its current momentum to ensure that its growth is working in benefit of all players along the supply chain.

Stories from the Field

Giving voice to overlooked artisans producing the goods that our market demands is core to our mission. In each episode, we spotlight an artisan organization advancing impact in their local communities - and creating beautiful product while they’re at it.

Ways to Take Action

Finally, we provide consumers, retailers and philanthropists with specific ways to take action and support the sector - both through the monthly podcast and accompanying newsletter.

“If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it.”
